Overall the day was good. Getting there and back was a little bit of a challenge, but I made it. We had 90+ degree temps with a lot of humidity. And my poor little car was not doing very well with the heat. Getting there was better but coming home I was a nervous wreck, watching my temperature gauge get higher and higher. Needless to say I was super happy when I pulled in the driveway, only to discover that the power was out and that it would be out for a total of 5 hours. But anyways, on to the ponies.
OF RR had good numbers and for once wasn't huge since they split RR and SR. This show was judging Halter and Workmanship/Collectability at the same time. I was not sure how it was going to work before, but it made things a lot easier since you just had to bring the horse up once instead of waiting forever for another class before putting it away. (I LOVE to pack as I show). I was kind of a loser and didn't have anything made up for my horses for Collectability, so I basically gave ribbons away since many of the classes I was entered in weren't very big. Oh well, what do you do. It was odd not having anything in the Custom or Artist Resin ring since there was the mini ring. I kept thinking 'crap I'm missing a class!' only to remember the mini division. The show went really late, I didn't leave until after 6, and it wasn't completely finished. They did minis last, so there was plenty of sit and do nothing for me. Overall it was a really nice show. The hall was nice and big, it got a little humid towards the end, but I was surprised with the heat outside and the little A/C unit for the big hall. They offered a good lunch and had a good sized raffle table. The awards are amazing!! Paper ribbons and really nice rosettes for Champ/Reserve. The Overall rosettes were HUGE!!! Like 3 ft like long and the top was as big as a bowl.
I walked away with a good chunk of placings and a few surprises.

Reserve Champion Pony Wormanship
I was very proud of some of those ponies. He's out again has gotten 4/4 NAN cards for me and getting that reserve champion was a huge bonus. The judge loved him and thought that his name was really cute. Xibalba getting 1st was a holy crap moment. Putting him on the callbacks table I thought oh man he's the only mini up here. But he proved they can hold their own because when she called his name as champion I just about peed my pants. She seemed chocked that she got his name right on the first try.
The horses that I painted proved that I am heading in the right direction. Someone Special and Gotta Bad Attitude both got NAN cards in Workmanship. That is a big deal for me. The more I paint grays the better I feel about it, so to see them prove it in the ring is just icing on the cake. The Mini judge told another judge that she LOVED the dapples of Someone Special. I felt my face blush and thought GO ME!!
I only took pics of the NAN winners this weekend. Here they are.
Here's to hoping nobody melts in this weather!
