I knew that this was going to be a big show, it turned out to be the biggest show I have ever been to. Not only were there a lot of people, but the horses were amazing. Just about every class had at least one horse that I could have taken home with me. I was parked next to the AR and Trad/Cl OF table. It got me distracted more than once.
Here is the show at a glance:
-I didn't have a single horse place in OF, the Mini OF ring was the biggest in the show. Every class had 15 or more horses. Since many of my horses spent the last few years in the drawer, they had some supper tiny marks (mostly on ears and hooves) that knocked them from the placings.
-Cm was a good size. I had one placing in American Warmblood. Otherwise, another tough division.
-AR was the tiniest I have ever seen it. But that didn't mean that the horses on the table weren't amazing. Both of my girls placed, but it was a very real possibility they would since they place to 6th and there were 7 in the class.
- I bought a Cm Stablemate while I was there. Its a G3 drafter pasteled to a nice red roan. I don't have a name or pics yet, but I do plan on bringing him to the next show.
I learned a lot from this show. I see things on my horses that are so minor they might not matter, but I learned that when it comes down to it, those things are huge. I will be spending the next few weeks going through my string and removing some and adding some others. I can't keep showing horses that mean something to me but are in terrible shape.
I also got the bug to do some work on horses again. I brought out my Bronte resin and finally finished prepping her. I plan on starting her tonight. I'm going the chestnut/bay route. I'm hoping for a nice chestnut, but if I'm not super happy with it, then I will keep going to bay. I haven't pasteled many horses, but I have been doing crazy amounts of research on it and feel like I'm ready to test the things I learned. I'll let you know how it goes.
Here are the official placings I got this past weekend:
Above and Beyond - 6th CM American Warmblood
Isn't She Something - 3rd AR Appaloosa
Who Invited You - 5th AR Appaloosa
That's all I got for now. Again, Happy Spring
