Dante got hurt, again. This time it was a little worse then normal. He sliced a good chunk of his front left heal bulb off. I have no idea how he did it, but he did. 4 weeks of wrapping and cleaning, then another 5 weeks of daily de-mudding and general care. Today the last of the scab is almost gone and then is hardly any scar. He was super good about letting me mess with it everyday, probably because he has done wound care so many times!
I am almost finished with Hunt Seat III, the highest Hunt Seat class the school offers, which is cool because we got to pick what we wanted to learn and not cool because there aren't any more Hunt Seat classes that I can take :( Oh well, I will be taking the Western classes next fall so that I can get in the saddle more and because I want to join the IHSA Western team next year. As well as doing the Hunt Seat Team.
This summer I will be taking lessons with my coach to help me with my equitation and with training my horse. So that will be fun. I don't think that I will be going to any shows this summer, but it is possible.
The next Live model horse show in in 3 weeks. It's another halter show, the performance show might now happen this year, which would really suck because I really want to do one and I have been working on a super cool jump for my Hunter/Jumper entry. I am doing one of the fences from the Kentucky 3 Day Event Show Jumping. It is looking really cool. I can use it with jumping and flat horses, so I could use it with just about every horse I show.
I am planning on starting another horse this weekend. I will be doing another trotting horse, but this one won't have braids and I think I will paint this one myself. I would like to send it of to be painted, but I just don't have the funds for it anymore. BUT...its ok, because I have a few new toys coming. I bought the Horsin Around new resin Sheza Nauhty Neddie. She is a standing Quarter Horse mare, I have no idea what color she will be though. I was thinking a nice palomino or rose dapple grey. But I don't know yet. Then I'm getting some new tack. I traded for a nice english set that will look really good in a Hunter/Jumper set up. It has a figure 8 nose band with some gold on the browband. I hoping it will fit a couple different horses so that I have options when using it.
The Spring End of Semester Horse Show is this Friday. I am so excited for it!!! We sort of get to pick the horses will ride, which is cool because I like knowing who I will be riding. We also get to jump in 2 classes, one at 2ft 3in and the other at 2ft 6in. Then a flat class. At the end of the show, they are going to give out Year End awards. Which is really cool because I didn't think that a school would do that, but they do. The bid awards that everyone is hoping for are Western Rider of the Year, Hunt Seat Rider of the Year and Equine Science Student of the Year. I would be cool if I could win something, but I will just be happy if I have a good show.
I have decided to start ending all of my posts with a picture of some kind. So, today I leave you with a picture of me riding Donald. I have been working hard with him on becoming rounder and he has come a long way.
