About a week and a half ago, I bought a Cm off of ebay. I was excited, so I paid right away. The person printed a shipping label the next morning and then nothing. The box didn't leave her house for a week.I was starting to get really irritated since I wanted to cut off the base a do a new one. I emailed her asking when it was going to be chipping since I was hoping to take it to a show (which is true) and like magic the horse was in the mail that evening. I understand that it was right before the holiday weekend and that not everyone goes out and about everyday, but you can have the USPS pick things up at your house, for free. At this point I just want the horse here in my house. I can't really do anything with it until I see. It's a nice dapple grey dressage horse, but the base looks terrible. Its funky color and shape pull away from the horse. I'm hoping to make a nice sand type one so that I can use it in shows. I also thought about just pegging the lifted legs and going base free. I have never liked the idea of having to carry a bade with me, and I don't really feel like starting to do it now.
In other horse news, I finished the mini donkey that I started years ago and then found again right before MOM. It was finish the pony or the donkey. I think I picked right. I also stripped Another Chance. He got a big deep scratch in his paint fight before MOM, and I decided that he needed a new life. After attempting to work on him yesterday, I threw him in the body box for a timeout. The changes I made where worse than before and the color that I wanted to do on him wasn't working. So I'm taking a break from him for a while. The last week involving anything Cming related has not worked out or just made me mad. So I'm taking a break for now.
I'm going to what I think will be my last show of the summer next weekend. This show has a MINI AR/CM division, which made me super happy. I have a feeling that everyone and their cousin will be there for that division, but what can ya do. Since this show has a normal OF division, I'm thinking about leaving the OF horses home. They never do well and they take up a decent amount of space. I think it would be a little less for me to think about if I leave them here. Plus it would give me more time to work on my fun new horse project.
About a month ago I started cross stitching. I did it as a Mother's Day gift for the in-law and decided that I really love it. After I finished that one I started another one for my mom. Then I got 4 more projects for other people, a show donation and for myself. It wasn't long after I finished the second project that I decided I wanted to try making a SM scale saddle pad. I do better in smaller scale so I thought why not. I have done 3 now. The first one is waiting on the correct color to come in from the store, the second one I did for myself and I LOVE it. The 3rd one, I'm going to list supper low. I made it a little bigger than scale so that it would fit some of the bigger bodies, but I didn't get the wither cutout centered. Sigh, of well. It's still really nice, it would be a great PSQ pad. I'm working on another one that has a rather detailed pattern. I wanted to challenge myself now that I have a good feel for it. I might end up keeping this one too. I mean, one can never have too many saddle pads right?
I have also been playing around with the idea for doing an English pad too. They sell some really pretty schooling pads, but I'm not sure if people will want them for showing. People, myself included, want white pads for showing, it's just how it goes.
I'm hoping to have pictures posted of the pads this weekend. I can't do the edges of a pad until its off the ring and I don't want to pull it off until I get them all finished. I planned for 9 of them this first time. I might make fewer at a pass the next time so that they can be finished in a shorter amount of time.
Until then, Happy Graduation season!!
