First big surprise was the blizzard that blew in the night before the show. Now when I say blizzard, I mean it. We had 14+ inches of snow, high wind and plenty of ice before and after the show. I decided early in the week that I would drive over the night before and drive back on Sunday, this ended up being my best choice. Not only was it nice being able to sleep in the morning of the show, but not having to worry about getting home at the end of the say was the biggest plus. Of the 24ish tables that were available at the show, 13 actually showed up. Not the biggest turnout, but more than expected. About half way through the show they closed the highway into and out of town, meaning that even if I had wanted to drive home I wouldn't have been able to.
Anyway, on the the good parts.
For this show, Traditional and mini were split; which proved to be a huge plus for me. I ended up showing just about everyone I had with me and judged the Traditional Artist Resin and Custom classes. Judging was a lot of fun and it was amazing getting to see all of those beautiful horses up close, but left me with little time to relax at the beginning of the show. We did big and mini classes at the same time so I was a little frantic trying to get everything done. In the end I really didn't need to go as fast as I did but oh well, what do you do.
I had a really great show, both in the Mini Resin and Mini Custom. I won't go over everything, but I will post all of the results from this show at the end, along with some of the pics. I ended up taking almost 50 pictures. I wasn't really able to go class by class on my personal class list since things were moving along, I ended up having to take pics of the table after judging so that I would have a record to go off of.
Weather aside it was a great show!! I am super happy with how the horses did, both in the ones that I painted and with the ones I didn't. A few last minute horses got their cards for NAN, which allowed me to add a few more to the 'going' list.
Updated: In the chaos of getting ready for Kentucky and some renovations to the house I seem to have miss placed my results. I did get them updated on the model pages while hanging out in the hotel so I you want to know about a specific horse you can look there.
So here are the biggest highlights for me.
I customized a Maggie Bennett Ground Effects to a pegasus, I painted him bay and named him Thorin. He was the first of now many for me. This was his first show and he did amazing!!!! He brought home 3 rosettes and ended up being voted Best in Show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so shocked and happy at the same time. I worked so hard on him and love how he turned out. Both of the more recently painted horses did well. Both Da Vinci and On The Edge won their classes and On The Edge even brought home a rosette! Augustus and He's Out Again each earned 2 cards, this means that both of them are only 1 card away from ROM awards from NAMHSA.
If the pony gets one more card he will have earned his in less than a year!
Anyways, here are some of the better pictures.
Enjoy!
