Instead of going through everything, I will go month by month with a Cliff notes version.
Enjoy.
September - Raise the Roof was my first show after Breyerfest. I had some new horses and I was ready to get back into the showing part of the hobby. I judged Artist Resin, it was a lot of fun and I get to see some amazing models, which is always nice. I didn't have the best showing but still walked away with some cards. Bob won his class again and managed to come home with the Reserve Champion in Fantasy. It seems like every show I go to the fantasy classes get bigger and bigger. There are some cool fantasy models out there now.
October - I had 2 shows back to back this month. First was North Star live, followed by Spirit Horse Live the following weekend. North Star was a tough show for me,, I was dealing with a lot of stuff in my personal life and it followed me into the hobby part. But I still made it to the show and had a decent showing. No rosettes but I brought more new horses, including several that I painted and customized. The new ones had good placings and I get some surprises with some of my old works as well. Spirit Horse Live was a good show, it always is. This year Micro and mini where together. This was the first show in a while that I didn't bring any OF horses. This year I judged performance, which is almost as much fun as competing in it but with a lot less stress. I ended up with a lot of great placings and a ton of Champs and Reserves. She did something different this year for Champ/Reserve and I really liked it. I proxy showed a couple horses for Meghan and her horses did awesome! All of them winning their classes and earning a champ or reserve. One of my horses that Meghan painted brought home the Overall Mini/Micro Champion award. One of the judges made these super cute little rose sashes for the overalls, I'll post a pic when I get it.
November - This month was pretty quite model wise. I entered ICEE this year and decided to do a Hippocampus. I did get him finished, but it was really close. Finishing him about 3 hours before the deadline.
December - This month was crazy! My personal life took over with the holidays and got ever more complicated when I had to leave my job. I won't go into details, but it was necessary for many reasons. On the model front I entered the Kylee Parks Medallion painting contest with Takeshi. Meghan let me buy her 2nd casting one since she already had one and didn't have a use for it. I managed to get him completely done in a few hours and I totally love him!! I don't know how I did yet, but I feel really good about what I did and challenged myself in multiple ways.
January - This brings us to today. I am gearing up for NaMoPaiMo 2019 right now. I got my model prepped and washed. Hopefully tomorrow that weather will be nice enough and I can get primer on him so that he is all ready. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to enter, the resin was having shipping issues so I thought I was going to have to go with my back up model. I plan on posting the entire journey, start to finish, once I finish. I'm going to take my time on her but it would be really nice if I had her done in time for the show I have on the 9th. I will be going to Sleigh Rally Live for the first time with Meghan. So that means that I would have 8 days to get her completely finished. Considering that she is has tons of pinto markings, I'm not going to hold me breath. I'm still researching how/what colors I will do for her base coat since it's a color I have never done before, but I'm really excited!!!
So, in parting I will leave you with some of the highlight pics from Spirit Horse Live, since those are what I have on hand.
Until next time, Happy Late New Year!!
